Last Monday we took Timothy to a McDonald's with a playground. This is a special treat for him that happens only three or four times a year. After he finished his lunch, we suggested that he put his shoes on the bench next to us and go play. He said that he would much rather put them in the shoe holder, and it was clear to us that the shoe bins were part of the specialness of the event. He disappeared around the corner, but came back a few minutes later looking a bit disappointed, carrying his shoes and saying that he would just leave them by us after all. We asked what happened and he said, "The sign says 'Sneaker Keeper.'" We assured him that it was okay and that all kinds of shoes could be put in there.
The joys of having a kid that can read but not understand all the nuances.
What a precious boy!!! That is so typical of a very smart boy who can read and has such a sweet nature. It was wonderful seeing you and your Mom this week. I hope things are going well for Julianne--let me know when something happens. Love you all.
